FACULTY FEEDBACK

On August 27, 2019 a leadership committee meeting was held with the primary purpose of soliciting feedback from the Woodford County High School Faculty on the two proposed designs for the new Woodford County High School.

  • Public Comments
    • There were no individuals wishing to make public comment.
  • Architect presentation of design options
    • Architects explained the design process explaining how individual feedback from the working teams, community forums, and online feedback surveys lead to the guiding principles for design. 
    • Architects described the working process of moving from 6 designs at first draft, after site analysis and feedback review moving that to 3 possible designs, and the recommendation of the leadership steering committee to move two designs ahead. Those designs being the "Heart of the School" design and "Learning Street" design. 
    • Mr. Locke presented the "Heart of the School" design emphasizing the main points and advantages of the design. "Bubble drawings" to introduce concept (pictured below), space layout draft showing where spaces would be within the design, and site layout images were all presented.

  • Feedback from faculty
    • Faculty in attendance asked questions to the architects including efficiency advantages, safety advantages, instructional advantages, and culture advantages of each. 
    • Faculty in attendance deliberated the advantages of each design and asked that additional staff have an opportunity during the day to weigh in on both designs. 
    • Architects agreed to present during each school period on September 3, 2019 and have each staff vote on the design they recommend. 
    • Team determined that students would be provided the same opportunity on September 3, 2019. * After discussion with the architects in the days following this meeting the date for the second faculty feedback session was changed to September 17, 2019 during planning periods. The teachers at the session on August 27 requested additional views of each scheme and the architects wanted to meet that request but need the additional time to add these additional layers of detail. 
    • It was communicated to all faculty in attendance the high value of the feedback and deep appreciation for taking the time to discuss.
