Background

June, 2018: The proposed nickel tax was recalled and through a special election was unsuccessful in being approved.

August-November 2018: The Board of Education made the decision to interview Fiscal Agents to help advise on different options for financing facilities. An exhaustive search and interview process was conducted in the fall and Hilliard Lyons was selected as the Fiscal Agent for Woodford County Schools.

January-February 2019: The Board of Education began a search to select the architect for Woodford County Schools to assist in the design and future construction of facilities in Woodford County. Again, an exhaustive search of firms was conducted with multiple interviews, presentations, tours around the state of completed projects, and communicated with references.  RossTarrant Architects was hired by the Board of Education to be the architect for Woodford County Schools including the design of  a new Woodford County High School.

March-April, 2019: With a Fiscal Agent and Architect in place, discussions around options for constructing and funding a new high school have been ongoing. Included in this discussion is the availability of funds through current bonding potential and a process to potentially phase in a new building. In order to discuss options in greater detail it is necessary for a new Woodford County High School to be designed. The design allows for accurate costs, timelines, and/or phasing options as these aspects all depend on how a new Woodford County High School will specifically meet the needs and goals of our students and this community.
