May 17, 2019 Leadership Committee

May 17, 2019
On May 17, 2019, RossTarrant Architects facilitated a leadership committee meeting with the primary purpose of sharing feedback from the departments with the leadership team..

Date: 17 May 2019
Time: 4:00
Location: Woodford County High School Library
  • Jimmy Brehm reviewed the charge of the group, "To design a comprehensive high school campus that meets the needs of students and the community." It was specifically emphasized that the charge of this group is not to make cuts in the initial design phase. The goal of the group is to gain feedback and provide input to the board and architect around a comprehensive high school campus for the new Woodford County High School. At a later date the board of education will make decisions about what can be built and when based upon available funding, the leadership team and advisory team will likely be asked for feedback on those decisions at a later date.
  • Architect, Kevin Locke, reviewed the feedback with the team from the department meetings. Discussions were had around that feedback in order to clarify the communication from each advisory team member.  (The feedback document is linked below). It was discussed that these are "wish lists" - there is no feasible funding way that all components  on each department's list could be included, however, the committee was explicit about not dissuading anyone from clearly expressing a full "wish list."
  • Versailles Mayor, Brian Traugott, communicated a desire to host a community forum on June 6 to allow the community the opportunity to provide input on the design of the comprehensive high school campus. The team discussed advertising for this event and Ms. Edelen agreed to ask the board to support the event held by Mayor Traugott and Parent Representative Brenda Richards through finically supporting an ad in the Woodford Sun.
  • Discussion was had on the next step questions for the leadership team, advisory teams, and the community forum.
  • Next meeting May 29 @ 4:00.
